Best way to transfer my PMS media from NAS to my new Unraid server? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SuicidalSparky · 2023-12-04 18:08 I have a Synology DS220j with 2x 6TB drives, there's about 4.8TB of media on there. I also have 2x 3TB drives which used to be in my NAS until I upgraded the size, these drives are currently spare so I decided to build myself an Unraid box to allow me to use all these drives in future. What I'd like is some ideas on is the best way to transfer my media because I assume Unraid will want to format or whatever my SHR drives from my Synology box when I first fire it up. I don't want to put the 2 3TB drives in there because Unraid needs a parity disk right? So that needs to be one of the 6TB drives. I ordered a Hetzner storage box thinking that I've got 100mbps upload so I'll just fire it all into a storage box and then download it again when I'm ready. Problem is for whatever reason Windows is transferring to the storage box at 6mbps lol. I don't have anything to put the 2x 3TB drives into to make use of these as drives to copy the media onto while I move my big drives onto the Unraid server. Do I just have to suck it up and buy some sort of DAS box for the 3TB drives and transfer onto those locally? Or is there some idea I'm overlooking? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eshuaye · 2023-12-04 18:36 Some usb caddy and transfer locally. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SuicidalSparky · 2023-12-04 18:44 Would any/most generic 2 slot caddy allow me to use the 2 3TB drives as a 6TB drive? Never actually needed to use one of them before.
