There's a fundamental flaw in how Ghostfolio handles currency conversion, not just in crypto but for other securities as well. There's at least 3 open issues on GH right now about it and the dev is asking for $100 to fix it because it will require a ton of effort. 😞 It converts the activity to USD using the activity date's exchange rate, and then it converts your cost basis back to your base currency using today's exchange rate. So if you invested €300 last week, your cost basis today may be €320 and your profit/loss reporting will all be based off of €320 not off of your initial investment. For accounting purposes and tax reporting purposes this is just fundamentally wrong. When it used Yahoo as a crypto source you could choose something like BTCEUR and it would avoid the currency conversion. But now that it uses Coingecko, this issue has come to light. It can also be recreated using traditional stocks like AAPL as well. So unless using Ghostfolio strictly in USD, then all of the calculations on your portfolio will be incorrect. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MRobi83 · 2023-12-07 00:24 This feels like very old outdated software, but it works and seems to be quite capable. I was going to try to contribute, but have no experience in the languages used, so that doesn't help. It's linked in my open GH issue and will be bumped up in priority for $100 USD. That's steep IMO for a fundamental accounting error in software developed to track investment performance.
