Selfhosted DNS resolver for local and VPN reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IngwiePhoenix 路 2023-12-04 15:24 Hello there! I am a little confused between PowerDNS, CoreDNS and NextDNS as well as a dozen of manuals and articles... my synapses feel a little tangled, to be honest. So, I am looking for a DNS resolver solution that can: - Sit in my local network to answer queries from all my client devices (I have an OpenWrt router). - Possibly block known bad URLs (ads, malware, ... the usual) - Be configured to use certain upstream resolver per TLD (i.e., .ygg should use a specific upstream resolver whilst the OpenNIC domains should use theirs and everything else goes through CloudFlare) - Be able to be used in a Tailnet (selfhosted Headscale) to take a wildcard domain (`*.birb.it`) and resolve it to an in-VPN node. I want to later include this with some form of transparent proxying to allow my network to access some overlay networks as well (Clash's repo seems to be gone, which was actually what I wanted to use... odd. o.O). But for now, I would like to be able to set up DNS resolution in my network with pointers to the other TLDs. Got any pointer? Thanks! You can use Warp on Windows & Cloudflare One on mobile to connect on Zero Trust local network & use Warp VPN without paying a subscription. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IngwiePhoenix 路 2023-12-05 18:29 Unbound just about exploded my mind. It's configuration manual is insane o.o But, that might be actually what I need! Thanks for the pointer. :)
