Stock lineage os runs great without google. Problem is many apps expect google play framework to even start up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IC3P3 · 2023-12-04 20:01 Filebot isn't exactly the same, but at least for renaming I can't stand Sonarr and TVDB. So many errors while renaming it, while Plex was just confused by non existing seasons and some episodes just straight up got sorted out ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Mintfresh22 · 2023-12-04 20:16 You seem to be the pot calling the kettle black. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- katbyte · 2023-12-04 20:23 yea me either. my workflow is sonarr/radarr -> rtorrent -> "incomming" dir, i filebot to a sorted dir then move to a bunch if "bucket dirs" and some custom automation to move to the proper library drive ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nanithedata · 2023-12-04 21:04 I wasn't aware of this thank you for highlighting it. I guess using it as a "forever" Signal server is not wise then. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- droans · 2023-12-04 21:27 Fwiw, the Wireguard app interfaces with Tasker. Go to Settings and select "Allow remote control apps" and it'll let Tasker communicate with it to enable/disable VPN connections. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thepenis_mightier · 2023-12-04 21:29 I'm aware (I use that already), but I my circumstances dictate the need for OpenVPN as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- droans · 2023-12-04 21:31 I'm ready to move away from Plex the moment that the Jellyfin apps for Android TV are any good. Well, I guess the rest of their apps, too. My users come from Xbox, Android TV, LG, Samsung, and PlayStation mostly. Once all those apps are working well (and for some, actually exist), then I'd switch over. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- KinanLak · 2023-12-04 21:38 Bitwarden isn’t open source ?? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ahassoun · 2023-12-04 21:58 Odoo? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Proziam · 2023-12-04 22:07 Odoo and vTiger both went to the dark side long ago. I still see Odoo recommended often and [occasionally](https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhost ed/comments/e1jp1p/comment/f8qtvhy/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x& context=3) try to save people from potentially getting held hostage. Odoo even went as far as to sue an actual open-source fork to force them to remove features. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JZMoose · 2023-12-04 22:13 Any reason for the transition? I quite enjoy Plex, especially Plexamp ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sleepee11 · 2023-12-04 22:21 Are you serious? I just deployed an odoo instance in my home lab to get familiar with it. 😭 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AllTheModzAreCancer · 2023-12-04 22:59 https://i.imgur.com/U25lCmJ.gif ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Proziam · 2023-12-04 23:26 Sorry to ruin your day friend. Unfortunately, open source is a hard way to make a living and business software has a "great trick your users don't want you to know about!" to convert users into (often unwilling) customers. As far as I am aware (https://github.com/frappe/erpnext) has not yet sold their souls if you're looking for an alternative now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zordtk · 2023-12-05 01:11 Amazon does it with FireOS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PinkPonyForPresident · 2023-12-05 02:38 I prefer donations. If I find that the project is run right and they ask for donations, I'm often inclined to chip in. Paywalls on the other hand just throw me off. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- onedr0p · 2023-12-05 02:40 Quark? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AllTheModzAreCancer · 2023-12-05 03:32 https://i.imgur.com/ltqgkIw.gif ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Nigelfish90 · 2023-12-05 04:28 Just curious, what would you say are your current hangups with the apps? I'm hosting Jellyfin for a select few and have used it for years now. Currently, my only big gripe is inability for the android-tv app to pass through TrueHD-Atmos without down mixing to PCM. So EAC3 it is for now, but that's not a showstopper for my use case. Cheers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- priestoferis · 2023-12-05 11:58 I run synapse on an "always free" oracle vps. It's only for me, but I brdige everything so I'm doubel puppeting quite a few people. It isn't the snappiest, but it's fine. I might look around for a faster implementation few years down the line, but everything else seemed too experimental for me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- priestoferis · 2023-12-05 12:02 One upside of self-hosting is that you can configure bridges for yourself to other services, or at least be more flexible with it (+ I guess a bit of privacy). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Secure_Pomegranate10 · 2023-12-05 12:13 Zotero, you just can’t self host it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lilolalu · 2023-12-05 12:26 Yes, that's true. Never used IRC since the existence of Matrix <> IRC Bridge, but you can totally build your own "unified messenger". That's very cool. Obviously, federation is another major plus for matrix in terms of resilient infrastructure. Plus, matrix had the only child and senior friendly client options I know of (based on am open protocol): fluffychat and SchildiChat. There was a very cool article about a public primary school in germany that took one of those chat clients and made a custom "branded" client for their school, added qr invite codes so even kids that couldn't write yet could join. All that stuff is only possible with open source at the base. https://www.golem.de/news/matrix-grundschule-forkt- messenger-2201-162562.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- priestoferis · 2023-12-05 13:04 libera.chat pulled the plug on the bridging, which is why I needed to spin up my own bridge, but yeah, the entire project is pretty cool in that way. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- guygizmo · 2023-12-05 17:41 Is anyone actually under the impression that Plex is open source? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bobbarker4444 · 2023-12-06 19:21 It is as far as I can tell. The server and clients are all on [Github](https://github.com/bitwarden/)
