nextcloud keeps hanging reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- arnemcnuggets · 2023-12-03 08:54 Hello, I've set up a nextcloud on a raspberry pi 3 with 1gb of ram with a Docker compose file with mariadb. I am mounting an ext4 SanDisk extreme ssd. And the volumes of MySQL and nextcloud point to it. When I upload, say 10 files, it takes almost 2 minutes and memory usage goes absurd. All 4 cores are at 100% and then the instance just hangs. Can't even ssh anymore. Any idea? Is the rpi just too low-end? I've tried multiple other power adapters but none of them do the trick. Also is nextcloud just too heavy? Seafile didn't work either. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dotinho · 2023-12-03 09:07 When you install, you select recommended apps or not? I have that setup for years working fine, but I use Postgres, and not Mariadb. Don’t forget RPI3 have usb 2.0 ports, even for ssd speed is limited. Check the owner of the directory used by NextCloud and docker, might have a problem here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- arnemcnuggets · 2023-12-03 09:15 I'm skipping features, directory is definitely writable because there are some files present even when uploading When I move files manually via scp them on my pi and the Mc on the disk it is really fast too, only breaks on nextcloud ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-03 10:07 Nextcloud is pretty bloated and a Raspi3 with 1GB can easily struggle, triee it myself. I am currently replacing most of my Pis with better hardware. You should ask /r/Nextcloud for support. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dotinho · 2023-12-03 10:09 Hmmm why reboot the pi? Why not just restart just docker compose instead of all pi? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- arnemcnuggets · 2023-12-03 20:09 cause my shell is unresponsive and stuck too ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dotinho · 2023-12-03 21:34 Then I believe you have system problem, usually docker don’t overload the system. Have you check systems logs? Also try to use SMTP service to monitoring your system resources. Important note, install LibreMNS on another device to monitor your pi and find why it crash.
