FreshRSS via Docker and/or Portainer - IP Address not exposed reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- j86southpaw · 2023-12-02 19:38 Hi All, I've had a look around but I cannot seem to find a solution. I've added FreshRSS to my docker install, trying both the official quick script via [https://hub.docker.com/r/freshrss/freshrss](https:// hub.docker.com/r/freshrss/freshrss) on CLI and also adding it direct through Portainer. Both times the container starts and is running, but it doesn't appear to be exposing any ports to give me a page to navigate to. Does anyone have an idea what I could do to get the port to be exposed? New to using Docker so apologies if this is a stupid question! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- WarriusBirde · 2023-12-02 19:48 Going by what you posted the FRSS instance should be addressable via [docker Host IP Address]:8080 Specifically this part: ‘-p 8080:80’ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- j86southpaw · 2023-12-02 20:09 Hi, i've had a look using the docker ps -a clio command, and while the container is listed as running, it shows as restarting almost constantly, and doesn't show any ports at all. I've tried using the docker host ip and 8080 as you suggested, but to no avail. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- WarriusBirde · 2023-12-02 20:13 Something is pretty wrong then. Post the command/docker-compose you’re using exactly. Also the logs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tweek011 · 2023-12-02 22:25 Do you by chance have another docker or service already running on 8080? Try stopping the container and change the external port to something else just as a test. Switch 8080:80 to maybe 8081:80 I'm using the linuxserver/freshrss version with no issue at all. Here is the GitHub link [https://github.com/linuxserver/docker- freshrss](https://github.com/linuxserver/docker-freshrss) Only difference is i use a offset port number than the default due to other previously installed dockers. In my case i use 3002:80 Here's the default docker-compose.yml from that version's documentation - encase you wanted to try it. Obviously, editing the path to where you have the docker compose located \--- version: "2.1" services: freshrss: image: lscr.io/linuxserver/freshrss:latest container\_name: freshrss environment: \- PUID=1000 \- PGID=1000 \- TZ=Etc/UTC # I changed this to TZ=America/New\_York volumes: \- /path/to/data:/config # /home/yourusername/docker/freshrss/data:/config ports: \- 80:80 restart: unless-stopped ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tweek011 · 2023-12-02 22:38 Another thing to note if you use Ubuntu and have snapd docker installed - then installed the official docker manually. Snapd and docker will eventually conflict and throw out a permission error like 500 or 550 I would quickly see popup in Portainer. I had to manually remove all snap and everything worked perfectly afterwards. If you type sudo snap list and docker shows up its installed. Than do a sudo apt list docker and you get a listing there as well. This might be your exact issue of a conflict between the two. I personally uninstall all snap services due to the problem in the past. It worked for awhile side by side then after a update everything went to hell in a hand basket. Only previous installed docker before the update would stop and start. I could not create a new one at all.
