How to have retropie and jellyfin in one rpi? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- devshore · 2023-11-30 19:06 Is there a way to either install jellyfin inside of retropie (lol), or somehow have a UI that lets the user switch between retropie and jellyfin? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- No_Dragonfruit_5882 · 2023-11-30 19:25 Proxmox on Pi would be my first guess and then 2 VM's or Containers with the Software you want ---------------------------------------------------------------------- onlygon · 2023-11-30 19:40 Check out Batocera. It has Kodi built in which can run Jellyfin. It uses EmulationStation as a front end and so it feels like RetroPie. All emulators are already pre-compiled and up to date which simplifies things. I never went back after switching from retropie. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ADB-UK · 2023-11-30 20:10 Simplest way is to use PINN [https://github.com/procount/pinn](https://github.com/procount/pinn) You install both OS on the SD card and select at boot. Note Jellyfin on the Pi is not the greatest experience if you have to transcode video - where possible transcode using something like Handbrake on a machine with a decent processor and keep the Pi just for display. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Kended · 2023-11-30 22:04 I'm not sure about retropie, but Jellyfin can be installed in a Docker container. You could install retropie like you usually do, then put Jellyfin in a docker container. You'd probably have to ensure there are no ports clashing, but it's not hard at all with Docker. Like others mentioned, Jellyfin on Pi can be a bit rough, but this method would get them both on the same device at least. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ConsciousBank4668 · 2023-12-01 00:19 RetroPie also has kodi (you have to install it when you setup retropie). Batocera is definitely easier to setup, but just wanted to make that point before OP switched from RetroPie to try Kodi in Betocera. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- onlygon · 2023-12-01 00:28 Ah, I didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up. I haven't used retropie in a long time.
