A personal website using mkdocs with steroids? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nickiler · 2023-11-30 14:13 hello :) I want to have a personal website, that can be stored in git (hopefully static). I' ve been using material mkdocs and i love it, but the blog functionality still does not convince me. Do you know alternatives/plugins or even examples or personal websites that blew your mind that could help me in this task? FYI i want to have on the website description of myself, projects, and blog to share thoughts, etc. My experience with materials was doing this website [www.deepdeck.co](https://www.deepdeck.co) Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dazchad · 2023-11-30 14:51 Static site generators are a dime a dozen. The simplest being just typing HTML into a folder and publishing to a cheap static hosting website (also a dime a dozen). Hugo and Gatsby are popular SSG, and you can find more in https://staticsitegenerators.net/ and https://jamstack.org/generators/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nickiler · 2023-11-30 16:07 >The simplest being just typing HTML into a folder and publishing to a cheap static hosting website (also a dime a dozen). > >Hugo and Gatsby are popular SSG, and you can find more in thanks! will take a look :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lytn1ng · 2023-11-30 23:10 I was on this same quest a few weeks ago (again, after leaving things alone for several years). I ended up choosing Sphinx and MyST. I started from https://chrisholdgraf.com/blog/2020/sphinx-blogging/ and https://jdsalaro.com/cheatsheet/sphinx-myst-markdown/index.html I eventually came up with a setup and workflow that work (so far) for me. I hope to write about that too sometime soon at https://www.lytning.org/ Good luck in your quest. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nickiler · 2023-12-01 10:51 Awesome thanks for the info, I will take a look :)
