Linking Samba share to domain name with UI

Is there some kind of self hosted solution to access / view / download
/ edit files on a Samba share with a nice UI through a domain?

Would this be a good idea security wise? I would be the only one using
the domain/share/files.

You just basically want a web browser based file browser. Install that
on the smb file server itself or install it somewhere else where the
smb share is mounted. Then run a reverse proxy and point it at that
app. Put authentication in front of this web app as well for an extra
layer of security. Or forego the reverse proxy and authentication site
and instead use VPN based access to access the web app.

Exactly this. I will use a reverse proxy. I’m looking for
recommendations, do you know a web browser based file browser which I
could try?
