help - no rsync - backup from TrueNAS to Zyxel NAS540?

I try to backup my data (photos, data is not changing a lot) from
TrueNAS core into Zyxel NAS540.

Unfortunately Zyxel supports NFS/SAMBA/FTP, but it have no rsync.

There is entware, I installed it and now I have rsync command working
inside my zyxel NAS.

unfortunately, if I try to rsync data from TrueNAS to zy-nas, I get an
error:

`root@truenas[/]# rsync -avr --info=progress2 /mnt/source_folder`

**Question:** Any idea what is wrong with my setup? I am very noob
with embedded systems.

**Alternatively** \- is there another easy way to backup data from
TrueNas into samba/nfs share?
It is 2nd backup, (one backup is done in same machine, different
drive) I don't need to do it on daily basis.

Try mounting the zy-nas to/on the truenas, and then using the file
system as a target, eg.:

rsync -av /mnt/src...  /mnt/zy-nas...

Rsync has to be installed on the client and the server.

I've never used a Zyxel NAS, but it looks like you can install rsync
on it.

If for some reason you can't do that, then the only other option is to
mount the folder from you Zyxel onto your local client and then use
rsync that way.

how do I mount external NFS into trueNAS?

I really doubt it is feasible.

I installed rsync from entware and I can run rsync from Zy command
line.

but I will try this way to get rsync, maybe it will work? :)

In my test (just now) I was able to NFS mount a unix host onto a
TrueNAS:

# mkdir /mnt2
# mount zynashost:/exported/file/system /mnt2
-or-
# mount 1.2.3.4:/exported/file/system /mnt2
