Any gaming related self-hosted services? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Franceesios · 2023-11-29 18:01 Hi all, I've just bought an Nintendo switch the last past Black Friday, and I was wondering is there any gaming related self hosting services that I can have fun with hosting in my environment? Even though I'm going to spend some great amount of time gaming, I still want to to keep myself curious and active with my self hosted services/homelab. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- _thePharo · 2023-11-29 18:04 not sure how related to switch it is, but [pterodactyl](https://pterodactyl.io/) allows you to manage multiple different severs for games (like minecraft, etc…) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- subven1 · 2023-11-29 18:22 I remember there was a way to play your Steam games on the Switch via the Steam Deck app if you install Android. There was another way for non Steam games with Moonlight and Playnite. Look it up yourself :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Varnish6588 · 2023-11-29 19:09 you can self host Minecraft bedrock edition to play with Nintendo switch ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Franceesios · 2023-11-29 19:20 I will be trying this out! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ericstern · 2023-11-29 20:40 I forgot the names of these, but there’s a couple I remember off the top of my head. One was an early console emulator/library manager that you could use through browser to play games like new/snes/game boy/etc . The other, I remember someone once posting in Reddit a game manager that was intended to be like steam for your drm-free games. Where you’d have a server with the drm installation media, and on the client you can download them and launch them ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Nintenuendo_ · 2023-11-29 23:07 It's called emulatorjs, I run it subdomained on my personal site, always have access and it works with any controller I've tried flawlessly. Gotta have the ability to play battletoads on the go :p ---------------------------------------------------------------------- pwoar90 · 2023-11-30 00:49 I run sunshine on a virtualised windows machine in this vm i: run iddsample driver so dont need a dummy plug and customise resolutions at any fresh rate and passthrough an exmining gpu. This allows me to stream games anywhere in my house using practically any device i can get moonlight installed on. phones, tablets, nvidia shield, steam deck, etc. I have tried doing remote play but my upload speed just isnt good enough to deal with lag. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- krankykrio · 2023-11-30 02:56 [Game Vault](https://gamevau.lt/) - Self-hosted gaming platform for drm-free games. I’ve been wanting to set up a virtual machine dedicated for gaming but I’m not sure how (don’t want the kids to have full access to the machine) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- pwoar90 · 2023-11-30 04:53 There are a few options. Its important that you try to do passthrough with what you can. My setup is on proxmox. There are some pain points when setting it up because console breaks when you make the gpu the primary, so you need to be ready to rdp in.
