Jellyfin detecting all media, except music reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AndyPro720 · 2023-11-29 11:34 Hey, so I'm running the latest stable version of Jellyfin and have encountered a nightmare of a bug, as mentioned in the title. The library has correct permissions and infact jellyfin seems to extract images and album covers but the music is absolutely empty. Tried a lot and lot of workarounds but no avail. One weird behaviour though, when I enable folder mode and navigate to the music directory, hit play, I'm greeted with the client isn't compatible or server isn't sending compatible media error, although the folder is empty(shows as,), so might just be indicative of that. All other media works fine in thier respective libraries. The updated log doesn't show any unatrual behaviour. Music is in .MP3/FLAC format. Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ariquitaun · 2023-11-29 12:29 scanning logs? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AndyPro720 · 2023-11-29 16:18 Are these a different type of log? Because I couldn't find any error in the general log file. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- adamshand · 2023-11-29 21:13 The only thing I can think of is folder structure. Is your music organised in the "Jellyfin Way"? https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/music/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AndyPro720 · 2023-11-29 21:27 Yeah it is. Also it does say if you keep music files directly, it should be visible :-( ---------------------------------------------------------------------- adamshand · 2023-11-29 21:30 Only thing to do is turn up the verbosity on the logs and see if you get a hint. I've been using Jellyfin for music for years with no hitches. So it's something specific about your setup. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- adamshand · 2023-11-29 21:33 If are running in a container, you can exec into the container and have a look as the user that Jellyfin is running as. Sometimes you can discover weird permissions issues that way. If you're not running as container than `su - ` (where is the user the Jellyfin process is running as) and see if you can browse your music folder.
