CUPS Printing From Android reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- elliottmarter · 2023-11-28 18:48 I bought a generic label printer (vretti) which is USB only I have set it up with CUPS running on a raspi 3B. All working fine from my PC, I can add it in windows and print labels - All OK. However my Pixel 7a is being a real diva, one minute I can print a label the next it says "This print isn't available right now". If I muck about and open/close menus and click add/cancel and generally tap random crap it then becomes available and I can print successfully. Anyone else with experience here, it just seems like Android is pretty terrible at printing to CUPS? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JuvenoiaAgent · 2023-11-28 19:55 Android is pretty terrible at printing ~~to CUPS~~, period. I hate it so much. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jimboolaya · 2023-11-28 22:29 You should be able to set up AirPrint and use that. Look up AirPrint CUPS. Since you're using a Pi, the Debian instructions should work: https://wiki.debian.org/CUPSAirPrint ---------------------------------------------------------------------- elliottmarter · 2023-11-28 23:04 I found in another Reddit thread the recommendation to use the Mopria Print Service. So far seems to be working well, posting here in case others find this.
