containers are not working with domains anymore after restart reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TNitroo · 2023-11-27 20:49 Hey guys. I've just set my things up (using nginx reverse proxy) and it worked great till today morning, when everything came crashing down, aka all my domains aren't working anymore for some reason, even though I was just using it yesterday night. I basically haven't done anything besides starting it up. the containers work, they can be reached via my ip+port. (vaultwarden, navidrome, nextcloud and portainer). the reverse proxy can't be wrong, since it worked till yesterday just fine, so I have no idea anymore. ( my SSL certificates are made with certbot) https://preview.redd.it/l53br5pjdy2c1.png?width=1174&format=png&auto=w ebp&s=cd46436ab00b428bcf605112654856d274559644 https://preview.redd.it/aonsw5cpdy2c1.png?width=454&format=png&auto=we bp&s=552f3be35b6baacb2d2e1005a6eb5c4932544d8b ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nik_h_75 · 2023-11-27 21:11 I suggest you move to nginx-proxy-manager. All nginx underneath but includes an intuitive UI to manage all your redirects and easy setup (and maintenance) of let's encrypt certs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TNitroo · 2023-11-27 21:21 I was trying to make that work, but anything I made there wouldn't work. I have no idea why though. I'm starting to think, that the cause might be my router? (provided by our ISP, it's not the best, but was doing it's job up until now.) And before anybody asks, yes, my domain's ip is the same as my WAN in the router's settings. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Eldiabolo18 · 2023-11-27 21:31 Really? Someone is trying to actually learn something and doing things without shiny, click interface and the first thing is to suggest a GUI. Great advice. Try to learn CLI if you can and dont stop other people from doing so if they are more ambitious. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Eldiabolo18 · 2023-11-27 21:33 Has your public IP-Address maybe changed? Verify its the same as in the DNS records (curl ifconfig.me). Are you trying to access the external domain from inside your network or from outside (i.e. phone or something) ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- notdoreen · 2023-11-27 22:48 Second that. You will be able to see which proxies are up and running and which are not, and you can edit them from there. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- hdddanbrown · 2023-11-28 02:18 rtfm and use a appropriate sub ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SnooPets20 · 2023-11-28 02:43 So much this. Don't use GUIs as a crutch. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nik_h_75 · 2023-11-28 04:44 So suggesting a tool that is easy to use is bad advice, while still using the same foundation as OP is currently using. OK... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TNitroo · 2023-11-28 06:12 no, my WAN didn't change, even if it did, that's my very first thing I do when waking up is to look at my WAN in my settings and my cloudflare so they match. And for the second one, I tried to do both, even asked a friend to check them for me, but they don't want to show up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Idling_Around · 2023-11-28 10:14 What do access.log and error.log say? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TNitroo · 2023-11-28 11:22 2023/11/27 14:12:35 \[notice\] 17889#17889: signal process started 2023/11/27 14:13:10 \[notice\] 18250#18250: signal process started 2023/11/27 14:16:36 \[notice\] 20383#20383: signal process started 2023/11/27 14:17:06 \[notice\] 20698#20698: signal process started 2023/11/27 14:44:26 \[notice\] 82296#82296: signal process started 2023/11/27 14:45:01 \[notice\] 83717#83717: signal process started 2023/11/27 14:56:31 \[notice\] 114021#114021: signal process started 2023/11/27 14:57:06 \[notice\] 115488#115488: signal process started this is from error.log.1 and for access.log.1, there is nothing wrong at all, everything is just time stamped about what I accessed when the website was still up and running. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Idling_Around · 2023-11-28 12:28 What does browser exactly say when you try to open it? Request timed out? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TNitroo · 2023-11-28 12:33 Connection timed out Error code 522 Visit cloudflare.com for more information. 2023-11-28 12:31:45 UTC yeah, this is the error. I've even puged nginx with all the config files and reinstalled it, still not working at all. what I will be trying now is to make a VM and try it there, I will just make a quick container with nextcloud in it to see if it will work like that ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Idling_Around · 2023-11-28 13:36 Well i have zero experience with cloudflare, what does it do exactly for you? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TNitroo · 2023-11-28 13:51 well, I have narrowed down a little bit, and my domain works just fine with the exact same reverse proxy I have on my server. After disabling firewall, trying to load the page results in error code 521, but enabling it and reloading the page results in error code 522. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LastTreestar · 2023-11-28 22:53 What's wrong with crutches?
