Visiting an external url redirects to router admin panel reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kingmahler · 2023-11-27 15:54 Hello I have a home server running Caddy and Jellyfin in Docker. I have gotten a ddns url jellyfin.redacted.dns.army from dynv6. I have a docker container updating my dynamic ip to dynv6. I have forwarded ports 80 and 443 for Caddy. The problem is that when I am connected to my wifi (the same one that my server is on) and try to access the jellyfin.redacted.dns.army url it redirects me to my router admin panel. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Simplixt · 2023-11-27 16:06 Are you using PiHole or AdGuard DNS in your network? When just overwrite the DNS entries with an internal rule for your home-network. Otherwise, you would need to tell us which router you are using exactly. The port forwarding rules seems to be handled differently if the request is coming from the internal network. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kingmahler · 2023-11-27 16:26 No I am not using any of those. The model is ZTE MC801A from a isp. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- brod33p · 2023-11-27 17:19 You'd need to check in your router to see if it supports hairpin NAT (also called NAT loopback). If so, enable it. If not, you will need to do as the poster above said and configure split DNS with adguard/pihole/etc. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kingmahler · 2023-11-27 17:30 There are not any options for Nat or Dns. Is it possible to connect an old router that has more options? Would I still be able to use the faster main router? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- brod33p · 2023-11-27 17:50 Possibly, if your router supports bridge mode (which basically just turns it into a modem). Then you could hook up another router to it that supports hairpin NAT. You may have to check the manual or talk to your ISP to see if that is possible with what you have. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kingmahler · 2023-11-27 17:56 Do I set the secondary router to bridge mode? The software provided by the ISP is pretty bad. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- brod33p · 2023-11-27 18:01 No, the one that connects to your ISP is the one that would need bridge mode ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kingmahler · 2023-11-27 18:07 Ok. I will try it. Thank you
