First self-hosted set-up --> feedback wanted reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Sufficient_History_8 · 2023-11-27 15:43 Hi everyone, I am quite new to the selfhosted world (but I have been hosting a plex server on a synology ds713+ since it came out). I wanted to get some feedback on my plans. I recently built a Louqe Ghost S1 mini pc(i5 13600) I just bought a Dell Optiplex 3060 (i5 8500T ,32 gb ram, 256 gb) I still have my synology ds713+ (raid 1 2x 4TB HDD) As my synology is old. I want to remove as much services from it as possible and mainly use it for storage. My plan is to use my Louqe only when I need it (power consumption). I want to run Proxmox VE on my Optiplex running the following services to start: * Home assistant vm * Ubuntu vm * Plex server * LXC containers * Unifi controller * Paperless ngx * Pi-hole * Mealie? * watchtower? or is this only for docker? * Bitwarden storage for my plex server and paperless I want to keep on the synology. Should I run docker containers in a ubuntu vm instead of LXC containers? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok-Connection5973 · 2023-11-28 01:06 Almost all of my docker stuff runs inside an lxc container, and it works great! Only thing I’ve had trouble with is getting smb shares from the NAS to mount properly inside containers. Though, you may find a workaround I haven’t.
