So looking for Networking solutions reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mbradley218 · 2023-11-26 20:04 Looking for possibly a Cisco ISR that can have a throughput of at least 1.5Gbps. I want to bond 2 WAN ports and load-balance them. as well as self healing on of the channels going down. I currently have a 1Gbps fiber connection from FiOS and going to get a backup from T-Mo for the home 5G internet offering. I'm also going to want three switches at least 8p each and have SFPs that I can swap the connections between the router and switch with fiber. I have two PCs in one room. Servers in another and ofc my gaming consoles in another room. So I'm looking for brand/model suggestions as it's been a while since I've even touched network hardware. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- goodpoint4 · 2023-11-27 04:20 What’s your price range? You mentioned Cisco ISR, but at least the 4300 series I used to work with only routed at 50Mbps, 100 with performance license. Those weren’t cheap either. Personally, I’m using pfsense which checks the boxes, but I’m trying to find time to migrate to opnsense with all the controversy around pfsense+. Used to load balance vpns, have 10ish vlans, used to have a lagg of 4 ports setup. OpenVPN and Tailscale with subnet routing…it’s pretty powerful and you just need to find the hardware to put it on, which I don’t have a good idea of scoping to size since I was using old hardware. Same questions go for your switches. What’s the price? I used to rock netgear smart switches (724 and the 8 port model) until I upgraded to the brocade 7250. Do you need 10G links between or is 1G sufficient (at least to some areas). I’ve seen some of the UniFi stuff and thought it looked awesome, but didnt have the port density I was after. Just some thoughts. Good luck in your designing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mbradley218 · 2023-11-27 06:55 The 10g link only has to be between switches and the routers. Looking for "yardsale" price as possible to start on all equipment if that makes sense. I would like it to be as cheap as possible while maintaining the requirements. I'll have to lookup what pfsense is. As far as smart switches. I'm looking for the ability of fine grain control if I want it. Much mike the managed Cisco switches of the past. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kmisterk · 2023-12-05 16:54 ## Post Removed Hey, mbradley218!
