Domain shows internal IP address (proxmox LXC Wordpress host) reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ReauLeau · 2023-11-26 11:55 Hi guys, I've created a LXC to host Wordpress through proxmox. I can access my website with the internal IP address that has been given to it. Now I want to connect it to my bought domain '[www.example.com](https://www.example.com) '. I portforwarded my internal IP address with port 80 and created an 'A' entry in Cloudflare to route my domain to my external IP address. Afterwards I made sure that I configured the nameservers from Cloudflare in my domain configuration. But whenever I enter [www.example.com](https://www.example.com) it instantly goes to my internal IP address. If I use celular it also tries to do it but won't be able to access my website (duh). I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Whenever I type in my external IP address with port 80 it also goes towards my internal IP address. When I use [https://www.broadbandsearch.net/nslookup](https://www.broa dbandsearch.net/nslookup) it also shows the configured nameservers from Cloudflare so that should be good. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Still-Snow-3743 · 2023-11-26 12:29 This is just a WordPress quirk, you did everything ok. You can usually solve this but using wp-cli to do a global find and replace for your IP address with the new domain name on your WordPress install. Another option is setting some constants which are something like SITE_HOME (I'm not sure that's right) in your wo-co fig.php file. Google "change domain WordPress" and it should point you in the right direction. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ReauLeau · 2023-11-26 12:37 That's great to hear! I've just managed to install wp-cli, but I'm still quite new to linux/debian. Do you have any example command I can put into it to replace the internal ip adress with the new domain? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- c0ff33h4x · 2023-11-26 17:17 These should do it for you but there are many options for changing this: wp option update home 'http://yoursiteurl.com' wp option update siteurl 'http://yoursiteurl.com' Here’s a site listing a few methods. I usually will run the change manually in sql but if you have access to the web hi you can change it there: https://kinsta.com/knowledgebase/wordpress-change-url/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ReauLeau · 2023-11-27 08:37 I found it in the web ui! thanks! It no longer shows the internal ip address. However I do get a new error which I'm unable to resolve so far... *Forbidden* *You don't have permission to access this resource.* According to the internet this is not a great issue to have and for some reason I'm also not able to connect through FTP, meh.
