Self hosted TV and movies tracker reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Significant-Neat7754 · 2023-11-26 11:34 Trakt is great but they have been moving more of their services behind subscriptions. There are very real costs in running Trakt and so I don't think I want to go with Trakt. What other options do I have? I have looked at Media Tasker (https://github.com/bonukai/MediaTracker) and Ryot (https://github.com/IgnisDa/ryot). I prefer Media Tracker because it's snappier. Is there any other option? How do you track your lists? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ThePixlPirate · 2023-11-26 12:24 https://reddit.com/r/selfhosted/comments/16csrdw/series_troxide_a_simp le_and_modern_series_tracker/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Significant-Neat7754 · 2023-11-26 12:32 Thank you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mathmaniac43 · 2023-11-26 12:44 I use MediaTracker. I would consider it to be somewhat barebones, but in some ways I think that is a feature. It does its job reasonably well and is fairly lightweight. The Jellyfin integration is a nice option too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- makanimike · 2023-11-26 14:18 I use Ryot. https://github.com/IgnisDa/ryot ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Significant-Neat7754 · 2023-11-26 14:22 Thanks for recommending. I have been trying it out and haven't had great results with it. I don't see the dashboard. I see that someone else has reported the issue on GitHub. I think things will get better as the project matures. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Significant-Neat7754 · 2023-11-26 14:29 Yeah, it looks like I need to stick with Media Tracker. It does what it's supposed to do without being too complex. Thank you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jonteponte71 · 2023-11-26 15:03 So what would be the point of using this compared to for example Jellyseer as a companion to Jellyfin? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Significant-Neat7754 · 2023-11-26 15:10 I am not exactly looking to fine tune user access, which I believe is what Jellyseer does. I want to track TV shows and movies without having to depend on Trakt. I don't mind Trakt but they are focussed on creating a service which they can sustain through subscriptions. Which is why I want a self hosted alternative. Hope that makes sense. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jonteponte71 · 2023-11-26 15:20 Ok. Not selfhosted but free: next-episode.net. I have used it for years. There is a premium tier but I don’t even know what I am missing by not paying. Or do you want to track what you have watched as well? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Significant-Neat7754 · 2023-11-26 16:04 Thanks. I don't know how this differs from what Trakt does. I want to get away from external services one has to depend on, as much as possible. Third party services like Trakt or even Next-Episode need to raise money as they get popular. That's the sad reality. Ideally I want something like [Mediatracker](https://github.com/bonukai/MediaTracker) with a better UI. Functionality wise, Media Tracker is already perfect. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zanish · 2023-11-26 23:47 I was using ryot but lost my database to failed upgrades twice while using portainer. It was a bit too unstable for use a few months ago. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- John_Mason · 2023-11-26 23:54 As an alternative, I use the app Sofa Time on iOS. It uses Trakt as its backend, but it has a great UI and maybe provides some features that are behind the paywall in Trakt. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/sofa-time-tv-shows-movies/id1491037404 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jonteponte71 · 2023-11-27 09:32 Luckily I am not that anal :) If fine with just keeping track of when stuff is available so I can watch it. And that does not feel like private information to me. I looked at mediatracker and I understand why you would want something that looks nicer!
