Photo gallery frontend with encryption and search reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NiaHoshi · 2023-11-26 07:21 Hi. I want to implement an image server similar to [Photoprism](https://github.com/photoprism/photoprism) using [ImageAI](https://github.com/OlafenwaMoses/ImageAI) to tag images based on objects and context. However I don't want to spend to much time working on the frontend, at first I were thinking about using Danbooru and use [Flexbooru](https://github.com/flexbooru/flexbooru) or the web interface on my phone. But it doesn't have any encryption or password protection (since the purpose of it is to be used as a public image board). So is there any good alternative for a photo gallery frontend with encryption and search/tag feature? Thanks in advance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Pretend-Doctor-516 · 2023-11-26 08:47 what i do for images to be searched, and what I've done for years is just remame files to what the image portrays, special emphasis on keywords, and a syntax like _ or . as only seperators. I've done this for years and years and I try to always save images in an organized manner just the only thing is doing this requires quite a lot of discipline, and inevitably you'll have images not named by this convention. Unless your albums are all very hand picked, and you spent the time renaming them. I wouldn't want to endorse AI anything but AI for this case is probably the only way. Despite I can also consider it potentially insecure or non-private, depending on the images data. Also google photos is still right dumb, and does not even grab filenames from searches, but what do you expect from google anyways, hah ---------------------------------------------------------------------- botterway · 2023-11-26 08:55 Renaming files like that is crazy. Why not just keyword tag them in the Exif data, which is exactly how this stuff is supposed to work? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- geo38 · 2023-11-26 13:40 You can use a reverse proxy like nginx to add the authentication and encryption for a plain http server. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Pretend-Doctor-516 · 2023-11-26 20:41 Wow, do you know how I can get exif data from mass files? Like to get exif data, in a script, for all of .. 1000s of images? What program would I have to use? This might be handy as ever indeed! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TheAmazingEric11 · 2023-11-26 20:50 On Linux, exiftool. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- botterway · 2023-11-26 21:20 This. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Pretend-Doctor-516 · 2023-12-01 15:35 Okay cool mate, thanks.
