What's the best alternative solution for shareable albums a la Google Photos? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RGB3x3 · 2023-11-25 16:09 I do love that I can share links to a Google photos album so that family members can see all the photos of my kid as she grows up. Is there a self-hosted version of this kind of thing? I'm pretty technically inclined, but I'm slowly getting into self- hosting for the first time as I explore the type of setup and services I want running. Media and file storage are the main reasons. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- electrik22 · 2023-11-25 16:29 Here there is a good comparison of two candidates: https://www.reddit.com/r/photoprism/s/Mw7UdIGBo4 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Legitimate_Farm_3095 · 2023-11-25 16:39 https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/search?q=google+photos&restrict_sr =on&include_over_18=on&sort=relevance&t=all ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jonteponte71 · 2023-11-25 21:29 You might want to add what you are planning to run it on? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jwink3101 · 2023-11-25 21:55 I haven’t dug super deep but I’ve long looked for alternatives to iCloud Shared Albums like we use for family pictures. There are ones that can do it okay but nothing as easy and svelte as iCloud. I suspect it’s similar for Google ---------------------------------------------------------------------- morbidpete84 · 2023-11-25 22:02 Immich allows public sharing albums if you expose it to the web. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RGB3x3 · 2023-11-26 00:55 Ah, this is exactly what I'm looking for, thanks!
