Nginx proxy managers not directing to correct destinations reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- albin-ab · 2023-11-23 20:38 I am running a proxmox server with two VM's currently. One for home assistant, and one with ubuntu server that is mainly used to run docker containers. I am using duckdns to get urls mapped to my public ip, and I am using nginx proxy manager to direct the different urls to different ports. Npm is an addon running on my HA. I want one url to point to my HA, and the other to an application in a docker container. The problem is that the urls do not redirect me to the right ip's/ports. Unfortunately, I am not very experienced with these things, so it is very likely that I have misunderstood either npm or how I should set up my port forwarding. In an image I show how my port forwarding is setup. 8123 is home assistant, 81 is npm, and 9090 is the application. I realize that 443 is the https port and I have tried forwarding it to 8123, 81 and 443. None give me the solution I am after. If I don't forward it to 8123, I cant access my HA unless i manually type 8123 after the url (isnt this what npm is for?). If I have it on 8123, I assume it is not being routed through my npm. How would I handle this? Should I really have https before my private ip? The other image show how my npm is setup. https://preview.redd.it/r7jisy8br52c1.png?width=1032&format=png&auto=w ebp&s=fc166de79806afd947f2f60a3fd26ce726a20e20 https://preview.redd.it/001rj4c4q52c1.png?width=696&format=png&auto=we bp&s=a7aa8846277919016c43ac1979dffc6d0285681d ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-11-23 20:52 Post your nginx.conf not screenshots. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- albin-ab · 2023-11-23 21:39 Im gonna look into how I find those for HA addons. Meanwhile, I edited the original post to show nginx port configuration. Hope that helps ---------------------------------------------------------------------- beaub05 · 2023-11-24 04:14 The only port forwards you need are 80 and 443. NPM will handle the IPs and ports of your internal services. Set DuckDNS to point all URLs to your public IP. Set two port forwards 80 and 443 to 192.168.0.240 on 80 and 443. Now you should be able to go to your DuckDNS urls from outside your network and NPM should correctly proxy the request. If it doesn't, it's probably because of the below reason. You may run into issues if you have https set for your proxies in NPM. You have a lets encrypt cert for your proxies it looks like. That will give you https for the outside world. Your screenshot shows http**S**://192.168.0.247:9090. That sets an https connection internally between NPM and your app. If both of those apps listed work over https on those ports in your home network, then you're fine. If not, you'll need to switch it to http. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- albin-ab · 2023-11-24 07:06 Thanks for the response! I currently only have 443->443 and 80->80 on the HA ip on which my npm runs. I can now access my web app both externally and internally. However it gives me a security alert when i do. I can not access my HA instance tho. I have tried with both http and https internally. I forgot to mention that I have let's encrypt on my duckdns addon running in home assistant too. Would using that both in npm and duckdns cause an issue? I tried turning it off in npm, but no success. I can try doing the same thing on duckdns when I get home from work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- albin-ab · 2023-11-24 07:08 I wasnt able to find the nginx.conf or config files for my HA addons I'm afraid
