Wordpress(Nginx)/wordops & Nginx Proxy Manager (docker) reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- footbag ยท 2023-11-21 20:52 Goal: Have NPM (as a container) act as the reverse proxy for other docker containers as well as Wordpress configured on the server through Wordops. This is on a box running Ubuntu w/o an external firewall. Individually, things work. Wordpress works if NPM is not in the mix. NPM works if Wordpress/nginx isn't in the mix. Trying to get them to work together has been... elusive. Originally I tried changing the default IP that nginx/wordpress would use. Other than chasing my tail on that one for longer than I care to admit, I did get nginx switched away from port 80, and NPM was handling the incoming port 80 traffic, but wordpress was acting... funny (pages had a mix of secure and insecure elements, and the login page was inaccessible). Admittedly, I may have messed up something somewhere in the mix. So, i pivoted to trying to NAT port 80 using ubuntu iptables rules to port 83 where nginx was watching (pasing to port 80 inside the NPM container). I confirmed the NAT rule itself worked (ie port 80 would in turn provide output from an app listening on another port). I can't help but wonder if, with NAT being done local to the box, if it resulted in some sort of never ending loop. Anyway, that isn't working either. Hoping someone can help me out, either with one of the two above approaches, or with some other approach I haven't even considered. I really like the simplicity of NPM, and wanted to keep everything except wordpress (and its related services via wordops) running as containers. But it has been far from simple thus far LOL.
