Seeking Advice on a Dual-Drive PC Build with Docker, Windows, and Nextcloud reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SkywayGe ยท 2023-11-21 15:41 Hello everyone, I'm in the process of configuring a storage solution for my PC and would appreciate your insights. Here's the planned setup: * Primary SSD: Windows OS with Docker running Nextcloud AIO (All-In- One) * Secondary Storage: Two HDDs in RAID 1 configuration I've come across some information suggesting that connecting SATA drives might not be optimal when using Docker with WSL2 (Windows Subsystem for Linux 2). The concern is that this setup may not effectively utilize caching mechanisms, leading to slower data transfer rates. I'm curious if anyone has experience or knowledge about this. Specifically, I'm interested in: 1. The validity of these concerns regarding SATA connections, Docker, and WSL2. 2. General opinions on my intended setup, which involves separating the OS/Docker on an SSD from file storage on a separate HDD array. Typically, I use Linux directly, but for various reasons, I need to have Windows on this PC. Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!
