SSH to a PC when connected to WireGuard reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Bobesemo · 2023-11-20 16:13 Hi. I want to access a PC remotely, but I don't want to expose the PC to the Ethernet. I have a WireGuard server (with the WireGuard IP: [11.0.0.1](https://11.0.0.1/)) and the 2 configuration files, one for each PC. I when I am connected to the WireGuard, I can ping the server, but it doesn't connect to the SSH. I also tried to have the WireGuard config for the server run on the PC that I want to access, but when I tried to connect via SSH, I get "Wrong password" even if I am putting the correct password. So the question, I should do something different to get a SSH connection? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tomistruth · 2023-11-20 16:44 You need to setup the wireguard ip in ssh config. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- pandaeye0 · 2023-11-20 17:03 It looks dumb, but did you happen to have not specified the correct username when you ssh? Is your ssh command in this syntax: ssh username@host or ssh -l username host ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zfa · 2023-11-20 20:30 Outside of fixing your SSH issues, you should change from 11.0.0.1 as that's a public IP. See RFC1918. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- spanky_rockets · 2023-11-21 03:22 The ssh server will just see the incoming connection as existing on the same network, or at least if you’re using masquerading (which I assume most WireGuard users are). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- spanky_rockets · 2023-11-21 03:27 If you can post your conf files for both pcs it would be a good start. (Censor your wan obv) Did you use a third party service to set up WireGuard like pivpn or tailscale? Can you normally ssh between pc’s while local? Did you enable port forwarding for wireguard traffic on your router?
