Record YouTube live streams automatically? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jobe_br · 2023-11-20 15:28 Does any self-hosted software (like Jellyfin?) have the capability to automatically record YouTube Live streams from a channel? There's a channel that doesn't post their videos after they live stream, and they don't stream at easy to view times, usually, and I'd like to be able to watch the full replay of the live stream on-demand instead of just seeing a recap or highlight. TIA! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- noncoolguy · 2023-11-20 15:40 VCR timer function connected to hdmi to rca converter with YouTube in full screen waiting for streamer to start. /s ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jobe_br · 2023-11-20 15:43 lol, hoping there’s something that’ll run on the NAS and I don’t have to read a manual to figure out how to keep the clock from blinking 12:00 ;) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DarioCrsng · 2023-11-20 19:59 I think TubeArchivist does that ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jobe_br · 2023-11-20 20:16 Thank you!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jobe_br · 2023-11-20 21:54 Unfortunately, it doesn’t. https://github.com/tubearchivist/tubearchivist/issues/131 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- pikatf2 · 2023-11-21 05:48 [ytarchive](https://github.com/Kethsar/ytarchive) is a command-line tool that can monitor a YouTube channel and get the entirety of a stream even if the download starts late. (yt-dlp also supports this with `--live-from-start`, but it's currently experimental.) [hoshinova](https://github.com/HoloArchivists/hoshinova) is a nice enough web frontend on top of ytarchive that allows you to monitor multiple channels, queue recording for additional URLs, and optionally filter based on keywords in the stream title; that last portion is done by polling the channel's RSS feed. If you use this frontend you will likely want ytarchive 0.3.2; it parses the application's output and at this time doesn't seem to correctly handle anything newer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jobe_br · 2023-11-21 20:19 Nice!! Thank you! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jobe_br · 2023-11-23 16:07 I think this will do nicely. Next live event isn't for a couple weeks, but I tested it on my own channel and it seemed to pick up the live event a few minutes after it went live. Good enough! Thank you again, this info is exactly why I came here! :D
