Tek.Place: a site about all things technology which will cover a lot of self-hosting topics reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zeitue · 2023-11-19 07:25 I was told by friends of mine that I should create a YouTube channel, so I decided I could start with creating an informational site (blog). I'll eventually expand to doing a YouTube channel, but for now, it's just this: [https://tek.place](https://tek.place). I plan to cover most aspects of technology, including self-hosting, as I do this at home and work. For all the self-hosting stuff I write about, I'll make the configuration scripts available and try to explain what everything means in the posts. * A disclaimer would be that I intend to monetize my site without making it ugly or annoying. * I believe this post falls under rule \`6. Blog Link Posts\` unless I misunderstood ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Voodooboy3000 · 2023-11-19 09:15 Hey I do something very similar on my own site, as you get more popular be ready for all the additional hours you will need to put in answering comments, giving support and other general maintenance as your posts gradually go out of date. Not trying to put you off just offering up my own experience as its something I had not really considered when I set off. I don't have direct monetisation in the form of ads or affiliate links purely the ask of Buy Me A Coffee and while on its own its a nice bonus it won't replace the day job. Good luck with the site and make sure you look at SEO to help with search placement. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- speculatrix · 2023-11-19 09:33 Looks like a cool project. Pace yourself, don't burn out in a rush to publish new material. Good luck ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zeitue · 2023-11-19 09:34 Thanks, will do.
