Cosmos-Server has hit a huge milestone :) reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thomasdarko · 2023-11-19 00:37 Congratulations to you and all involved. I don’t use it, but I remember its announcement and been seeing mentioned many times. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Emaltonator · 2023-11-19 01:14 Seems cool. Is it available for K8s? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Kooky_Percentage3687 · 2023-11-19 01:33 Whilst it is not for me, well done. Looks fantastic, annd very well written ---------------------------------------------------------------------- terAREya · 2023-11-19 01:38 I just switched from Unraid to Cosmos and I am loving it! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MrDephcon · 2023-11-19 02:03 Cosmos doesn't seem to do much in the way of being a storage server... We're you using unraid purely for applications? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- terAREya · 2023-11-19 02:23 I was using unraid as short term storage but mainly as a docker host. It is very good as a docker host but I am finding Cosmos to be better in many ways ---------------------------------------------------------------------- w1nston · 2023-11-19 04:26 How are you finding it better? I don't really see a benefit over something like bare debian with portainer? I tried to import some of my dockerfiles into "Cosmo apps" or whatever they call them and it ended up being a massive pain. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- terAREya · 2023-11-19 16:53 I find the interface extremely intuitive. Network settings, mounts, docker environment variables etc all at my fingertips. Built in security like smart shield, throttling, authentication and geo- blocking per container. Marketplace they have set up seems to have nearly everything I need. The few apps I did not see in the market I requested in their discord and they were added within 24 hours. The discord I should mention is extremely active and helpful. I have used nearly everything over the last ten or so years of selfhosting. From roll my own to yunohost, cloudron, sandstorm, caprover, unraid (most recently). I have never had this pleasant an experience. I will admit my use case might be different than yours as I dont have a bunch of docker compose files I want to add to it but rather I am using the built in marketplace ---------------------------------------------------------------------- terAREya · 2023-11-19 16:55 Forgot to add the openID authentication and built in VPN which I am just starting to test.
