fasten with postgres? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ignacio94598 · 2023-11-18 20:29 Is anyone running [fasten](https://github.com/fastenhealth/fasten- onprem) with postgres? Is it faster? If so, could you share your docker-compose and config.yaml? Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-11-18 20:45 :) Postgres support is highly experimental at the moment. While you can start the container and write data to the Postgres database, most of the UI is broken (dashboard querying needs to be partially re- written to support postgres syntax) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ignacio94598 · 2023-11-18 21:12 Am I doing something wrong or is the current version super slow? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ignacio94598 · 2023-11-18 21:13 Viewing records is slow, and I think syncing too. I just installed it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-11-18 22:54 Viewing records shouldn't be too bad, but syncing can definitely take a while. I've had syncs that take 1-2 hours. There's a number of things going on: - Fasten's code hasn't been optimized yet - we're doing some unusual JSON processing before storing in the database) - we're not making parallel requests to healthcare institutions - Some healthcare institutions have pretty strict rate-limiting in place - SQLite I understand where you're coming from, but to be quite honest switching to Postgres probably won't help. Once the multi-threading and JSON processing engine is updated you'll see a lot more performance, but it's not something we're prioritizing for now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ignacio94598 · 2023-11-18 23:00 Thanks. This is a super promising project. Are you planning to add search functionality at some point? For example, I would like to be able to search for cholesterol and see how my numbers have evolved over time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-11-18 23:09 Thanks! The Lab Results page should already allow you to see how your results have changed over time. Fasten also supports the ability to customize the dashboard with your own widgets (& database queries). But yes, full-text search is also planned, though we might need to add some sort of OCR support first, since some clinical notes are just PDFs of handwritten notes.
