Dashy for Proxmox reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comprehensive-Crow33 · 2023-11-18 05:26 Hello, I am having a heck of a time editing my Dashy yaml file. There is a json text editor, I truly can’t wrap my head around the syntax it’s absurd. Sorry if you like json. I’d love to edit the yaml directly, but Dashy has a super unfamiliar authentication method. I can’t ssh because I don’t know the logins and was never prompted to set any. The guide says to do it in a terminal but that puts me in a bit of a catch 22 since I can ssh without the login creds. Even if I could, the guides are all set for docker and I really don’t know where I would go other than blindly listing directories until I stumbled on it. Anyone able to help? I’d even be willing to use the json editor if someone could pull my head out of my a$$. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- root_switch · 2023-11-18 07:16 Ditch dashy and spin up homepage, you will be much happier. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-11-18 07:36 > I am having a heck of a time editing my Dashy yaml file. They are not the same. > I can’t ssh because I don’t know the logins and was never prompted to set any. You cant ssh into your own host? What? Why are you trying to "ssh into Dashy"?! > Even if I could, the guides are all set for docker and I really don’t know where I would go other than blindly listing directories until I stumbled on it. And the problem with that is...? Youre not even mentioning how you have installed Dashy. Is it in a LXC? In a VM? If you run it in either, then YOU will have the login details. How should Dashy provide those to you?! Nothing here makes much sense, and top of all, this here is neither /r/DashySupport or /r/YAMLJSONSupport etc. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comprehensive-Crow33 · 2023-11-18 08:42 \- Yea there is a live text editor feature. It is the config code translated into json presumably with an api or something. It also has a tree edit mode but thats even worse. \- Because I want to navigate to the config.yaml file and edit it the way i'm used to. Yes I cannot SSH into it because it is configured with a tokenized login that sounds like a headache to get set up. and how would I if I can't SSH in the first place. \--Dashy is installed in a docker container within Proxmox VE. You paste the helper script into the Proxmox terminal, it cooks up the container and when its done you just punch the IP into your browser and off you go. Usually. Most often the default logins are things like root and admin with root/admin or even nothing for a password. I understand this is not dashy support. Give me a break with this. You've asked a bunch of quesitons, provided zero insight, and managed to be condescending throughout your reply. Why are you bothering replying at all? I realize ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-11-18 08:59 Im going to take a blind guess now and say you used a thirdparty script to deploy Dashy as a LXC. Then you need to ask the creator of that script for the login details. It has nothing to do with Dashy itself. And you dont mention any details which script exactly you used so nobody can tell you details. gg ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-11-18 09:00 Wouldnt make a difference when its PEBCAK tho... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- javijuji · 2023-11-18 11:47 I am guessing you used one of tteks automated lxcs scripts which unless you manually configure will set up passwordless ssh login. Which only works using the proxmox shell. Just start over and read over your options. You can set up manual ssh credentials when you 1st set up the lxc by not selecting default settings. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- InvaderToast348 · 2023-11-18 12:18 Pebcak ?? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-11-18 12:25 Yes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Droophoria · 2023-11-18 13:39 This is the way. Homepage + code-server. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- root_switch · 2023-11-18 15:55 That is true although homepage is more reliable and less glitchy so hopefully that helps OP ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lndependentRabbit · 2023-11-18 21:01 (P)roblem (E)xist (B)etween (C)hair (A)nd (K)eyboard ---------------------------------------------------------------------- InvaderToast348 · 2023-11-18 21:02 Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Simplixt · 2023-11-19 10:28 Terminal of Proxmox. pct enter Now you have SSH
