mediastack child containers occasionally disconnecting reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Psychological_Cut139 · 2023-11-17 23:39 So I have set-up a "mediastack" that was build using docker-compose and run in Portainer including the following services: * Transmission/OpenVPN * Radarr * Sonarr * Lidarr * LazyLibrarian * Jackett I have an issue where all of the dependent containers that are sat under Transmission/OpenVPN will occasionally disconnect or go offline by some cause of my VPN provider from what I can tell (my network hasn't gone down when it happens). So I ask if anybody would have any recommendations for checking container status and restarting child containers, maybe my compose is a little messed up? I have all of the child containers network-mode pointed at Transmission/OpenVPN. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-11-18 00:22 > maybe my compose is a little messed up The compose you did not share with us. You probably need better healthchecks on those containers so if you tell Docker that they depend on each other, it makes sense. But thats impossible to say without details. You should simply ask /r/Docker, or the creators of the software of each service. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BenMtl · 2023-11-18 12:51 Would you be willing to share your compose file... I want to move my stack over to docker .. Transmission/OpenVPN is giving me some issue and concern. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Psychological_Cut139 · 2023-11-19 01:50 Sorry for the late response, The child containers do depend on transmission alone and will be unreachable if the VPN client switches IP or goes down momentarily. Maybe creating a automated healthcheck of sorts to run in the stack and restart the containers if they are not able to be pinged. Any recommendations on that? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Psychological_Cut139 · 2023-11-19 01:52 version: '2.1' volumes:     media:         driver_opts:           type: "nfs"           o: "addr=172.16.0.xxx,nolock,soft,nfsvers=4"           device: ":/mnt/general/proxmox/store/docker- volumes/moviestack/media"     data:         driver_opts:           type: "nfs"           o: "addr=172.16.0.xxx,nolock,soft,nfsvers=4"           device: ":/mnt/general/proxmox/store/docker- volumes/moviestack/transmission/data" services:  transmission-openvpn:     volumes:         - media:/media/downloads         - /var/lib/docker/volumes/config/_data:/config         - data:/data         - /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro           environment:         - PUID=1000         - PGID=1000         - CREATE_TUN_DEVICE=true         - OPENVPN_PROVIDER=SURFSHARK         - OPENVPN_CONFIG=us-xxx.prod.surfshark.com_tcp, us- xxx.prod.surfshark.com_udp         - OPENVPN_USERNAME=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx         - OPENVPN_PASSWORD=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx         - OPENVPN_OPTS=--inactive 3600 --ping 10 --ping-exit 60         - WEBPROXY_ENABLED=false         - LOCAL_NETWORK=172.16.0.0/24         - TRANSMISSION_SCRAPE_PAUSED_TORRENTS_ENABLED=false         - DNS=8.8.8.8,1.1.1.1     cap_add:         - NET_ADMIN     logging:         driver: json-file         options:             max-size: 10m     ports:         - 9091:9091         - 9117:9117         - 7878:7878         - 8989:8989         - 8686:8686         - 5299:5299         - 51413:51413     restart: always     image: haugene/transmission-openvpn  jackett:     image: linuxserver/jackett     container_name: jackett     network_mode: "service:transmission-openvpn"     environment:         - PUID=1000         - PGID=1000         - TZ=America/New_York         - AUTO_UPDATE=true     volumes:         - /var/lib/docker/volumes/jackett/_data:/config     restart: unless-stopped  radarr:     image: linuxserver/radarr     network_mode: "service:transmission-openvpn"     container_name: radarr     environment:         - PUID=1000         - PGID=1000         - TZ=America/New_York     volumes:         - /var/lib/docker/volumes/radarr/_data:/config         - media:/media         - data:/data     restart: unless-stopped ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Psychological_Cut139 · 2023-11-19 02:01 I didn't include the remaining containers because my comment was too long but it is basically a repetition of the radarr container for all the others. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-11-19 02:20 > You should simply ask /r/Docker, or the creators of the software of each service.
