What are some open source self-hosting apps that actually (at least
partially) rely on closed source resources?

I was looking into open source apps and I found out that the Tailscale
[coordination server](https://tailscale.com/opensource/) is actually
closed source, and that if you want to run an open source version you
need to run [Headscale](https://github.com/juanfont/headscale) as
well.
