Any self hosted milanote alternative with visual boards reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SilverAggravating489 · 2023-11-14 15:40 Are there any self hosted notes web app solutions that offer a visual board like editor? Since I also want to have everything stored in a free postgres database solution due to low vps space I couldn't find any to satisfy my needs. I also don't need idk what super encrypted web app since I won't store any of personal information or idk what. Just a visual board like milanote, the possibility to show the board to others via a link, and post important to be able to connect to a remote database like sqlite. I'm looking for this kind of board: https://imgur.com/a/NIKSZha ---------------------------------------------------------------------- waeking · 2023-11-14 16:46 [Wekan](https://wekan.github.io/) could work for you. There are others similar to this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SilverAggravating489 · 2023-11-14 16:54 Does it offer this? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SilverAggravating489 · 2023-11-14 16:55 I'm looking for this kind of board https://imgur.com/a/NIKSZha ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SilverAggravating489 · 2023-11-14 21:50 5 hours in and nothing. But I did found one that uses Amazon S3, but i'm not 100% sure that is free (the S3 instance) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dantosxd · 2023-11-15 08:14 Check out https://github.com/toeverything/AFFiNE ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SilverAggravating489 · 2023-11-15 10:01 I found it earlier and I had no idea how to set the postgres with docker and yarn is damn slow on my VPS. I should give it another try and build it locally, something that didn't came in my mind until now ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SilverAggravating489 · 2023-11-15 19:02 Have you used it? I installed it and I can't figure out how to make it so I'm the only one who can login ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dantosxd · 2023-11-15 19:14 I used it locally so I am not sure. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SilverAggravating489 · 2023-11-15 19:32 So you actually have no idea if this can even be self hosted on the web, so it was just an assumption.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dantosxd · 2023-11-15 20:35 Classic... A person so desperate for help but can't be bothered to be a decent human to those helping. Classic low-level redditor... Affine is definitely self-hostable. They just made a new release and are catching their docker version up after the launch of their web service. I personally hosted the application on a webtop I have and have basic authentication enabled to prevent the pages from being public. I also used their self-hosted version previously, but I liked the recent updates, so I am using the new one. You can wait for them to update their self-hosted version further, use their current one, use their free pro version for a year by going to their community, or do what I did. Hope you have a shit day! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SilverAggravating489 · 2023-11-16 08:12 Chill down :) Self hostable doesn't instantly means free, at the first look they still lock you up in their ecosystem. Looks more like an app that you can run on the web similar to the mobile apps they might offer, which is not what I'm looking for. Maybe I should have also mentioned that ^^ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SilverAggravating489 · 2023-11-17 17:25 Couldn't find any reliable self hosted app to do what I wanted. Especially ones that uses an external storage solution.. But I did found great tools while searching: What I ended using is using Obsidian with a plugin named \`obsidian- webpage-export\` to export it to the web as a single page, then I can use it for both private and public notes, the issue being that I have to push everything myself to the web server. I also came across trilium, but it uses excalidraw for the whitedraw, but at the moment of writing this it doesn't support syntax highlighting (for now, from github issues this feature is planned). Another good alternative is Logseq, which acts like obsidian and has native html export. https://obsidian.md/ https://github.com/zadam/trilium https://github.com/excalidraw/excalidraw https://logseq.com/ Ending note: I suppose it's time to learn some javascript and develop it myself. Maybe some day in the close future. \^\^ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Polarzincomfri0 · 2023-11-30 18:59 A little bit rude but.. it's reddit so.. meh [This](https://github.com/toeverything/affine/pkgs/container/affine- self-hosted) might be of use, found this Self-Hosted page on the GitHub ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SilverAggravating489 · 2023-12-01 08:42 It's just the desktop app but instead of running on desktop can be deployed online. There's no difference between what the free version offers and the self hosted version. Most of the things are still locked into the paid plan and it's by far to what I'm looking for. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SilverAggravating489 · 2023-12-01 08:50 It's just the desktop app but instead of running on desktop can be deployed online.
