Just don't. It's not worth the headaches. Set up something like Zulip
or Mattermost instead. They might not be as tiny as your average xmpp
server but in return, you won't have to worry about all the XEPs that
you want your server AND clients to support to achieve basic
functionality and any semblance of delivery reliability.

This is an uninformed take. Snikket is a curated and packaged xmpp
experience with XEPs and clients designed to be compatible and working
out of the box. It takes literally all of the knowledge required about
XEP and clients out of the operator's hands.
