Snapdrop doesn't seem to work when not in 2.4GHz WiFi Networks? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Avieshek · 2023-11-12 11:48 Strangely, even when the name for the other device shows nothing happens when it comes to the next step of transferring files or sending text (right-click or long-press) whenever not in 2.4GHz network whether both the devices in question are on 5GHz or 6GHz network - Is this just me or something that needs to be universally addressed with a fix? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DNAblue2112 · 2023-11-12 11:58 I exclusively use 5ghz wifi for devices that support it at home. It works fine between devices on that network and between the two wifi ssids as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Avieshek · 2023-11-12 12:01 The devices are recognised and shown but doesn’t initiate any form of transfer on 5GHz network. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DNAblue2112 · 2023-11-12 12:11 I've had that happen when my phone is on mobile data while the other device is on wifi. Maybe it's a configuration issue on the 5ghz network? Can devices ping each other? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Avieshek · 2023-11-12 12:14 I keep mobile data off as it unnecessarily drains battery. 5GHz configuration should be fine (which is not much on Home WiFi) otherwise Pairdrop shouldn’t be working which is a fork of Snapdrop itself. What does ping mean here? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mztiq · 2023-11-12 19:30 Do you somehow use Pi.hole? I sadly cannot get Snapdrop to work since I started using Pi.hole in my local network ...
