Help needed Home Server/NAS reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- KSMV_ ยท 2023-11-12 11:40 Hi there, i have server in my plans. I'm film editor, so i need high performance connection. My only limitation is budget and server is going to have multiple functions. Fon now i have it built, but only for tests. It's based on truenas scale. Hardware: i7-8700k, 32GB ram (not ECC :c ), 2x 4tb ironwolf drives (raid 1 conf), 1 256GB Nvme and 1 250GB SSD. Also little 1060ti gpu. Plans for upgrade: 10000 Mbps Intel X540-T2, 5 x Toshiba MG06A 8TB (Raid 5), TRENDnet Ethernet USB-C 5Gb/s (my plan is direct connection to Macbook) I want it to be multiple services at once, so i'm using contaniers in truenas for apps, SATA SSD is for system, NVME is for apps, and raid is for data (I know for now raid 1 is baaad idea, i don't have another disk for parity data) Service 1: Editing NAS storage Service 2: Jellyfin media server for vids (My own collection as well as projects in progress for clients) Service 3: Torrent server Service 4: Uploading service / Cloud service (Nextcloud / Projectsend) to get projects directly from remote clients to my editing space. Service 5: Windows VM (For apps i can't run at mac) Service 6: Website. Service 7: MAYBE: Rendering server for resolve. My internet connection is 1000/100, i have public IP. My problem is, i don't want directly expose my server to the public. I've tried cloudflare tunnels, but it has transfer limitations. I have spare raspi's, would it be better to make reverse proxy from it? Services that i want to share are Jellyfin, Uploading service, Website. Rest of it need to be private and kept locally. I can't afford to separate it between machines.
