'Edge' Server remote access reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- crimewaffle · 2023-11-08 19:04 Hello everyone I'm currently looking for a (centralized?) way to connect to my 'local' servers remotely. I'm not looking for a Web-Based management software, but a way to ssh into the servers that are behind a nat. Port forwarding on firewalls/routers isn't an option since I don't have a dedicated IP. I already took a look at Cloudflare tunnels and different VPN servers but nothing fits. Any ideas on what software i could use? Thanks in advance ---------------------------------------------------------------------- meijad · 2023-11-08 19:12 Tailscale should work in this scenario. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- crimewaffle · 2023-11-08 19:24 I was more looking to something self hosted but I’ll give it a try Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BlueEye9234 · 2023-11-08 19:27 https://github.com/juanfont/headscale ---------------------------------------------------------------------- crimewaffle · 2023-11-08 19:33 Nice. Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zfa · 2023-11-08 19:59 I'd have the clients connect to the central server in a hub-and-spoke VPN topology using something like WireGuard say. Use the central host as either a jumphost or configure your personal devices to also connect to it via VPN and have it handle routing so you can connect directly to the clients once you're connected to the central server. It's a somewhat standard topology. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PhilipLGriffiths88 · 2023-11-09 09:55 Alternatively OpenZiti - [https://github.com/openziti](https://github.com/openziti). It has similarities to Tailscale/Headscale with an opinion on being more deny-by-default and 'zero trust' as well as SDKs so developers can build it into their apps. The last bit if not relevant for you use case but hey. I work on the project. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ProffesionalAds · 2023-11-09 10:08 Check out [Netmaker](https://www.netmaker.io/) as well, works almost similar to Tailscale but faster since Tailscale is userspace. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ZAFJB · 2023-11-09 13:02 What's wrong with using Dynamic DNS? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- crimewaffle · 2023-11-09 13:39 My provider uses DSLite. So even when I use DDNS it would only work over IPv6 (which isn’t an option for me)
