Webmesh: Just released the first version of a GUI client application reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jews4beer · 2023-11-08 13:52 Hey allz. I just released a GUI app to make using Webmesh on macOS and Windows easier. You can check it out [here](https://github.com/webmeshproj/webmesh-app). If you are unfamiliar, Webmesh is yet another WireGuard mesh solution sporting a pluggable RPC model and fully open-source components. See the organization for some of the other projects in the works (e.g. a semi-new [CNI](https://github.com/webmeshproj/webmesh-cni) for turning Kubernetes Pods into Webmesh nodes). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Fluffer_Wuffer · 2023-11-08 17:10 I won't deny, I'm a bit confused.about this, and I think other will be as well. The terminology will cause people to compare it to Tailscale and Netmaker etc. By the sounds of it, it's more like an auto-configutator for Wireguard? A couple of suggestions 1) Explain what and how it does thing differently to other options... you have your own way of describing it, but if others are not understanding this, then start from the point they do comprehend (keep in mind, we're a bunch of idiots, it's more obvious to you, as you designed it... others don't have that benefit or insight) 2) The pages and docs are very text heavy, i read an article a few years back that showed you have about 2-5 seconds to catch a.persons interest before they move on.. add some eye candy, such as screenshots of the Web UI, clients, and even the CLI.. maybe even video showing it working. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jews4beer · 2023-11-08 17:12 It is comparable to Tailscale and Netmaker. The main repository and website give a good overview of the comparisons and key differences. I do plan on making a few demo videos/screenshots once I add a few more features. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Fluffer_Wuffer · 2023-11-09 01:14 Thanks, that makes it clear..
