Receipts based expense tracker? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mandarons 路 2023-11-08 03:30 I thought I would check before building one. I need an expense tracker that would - 1. Scan receipts 2. Maintain a log of itemized expenses extracted from the receipts 3. Draw basic insights - how much did I spend on milk in a month? Which grocery store has cheaper spinach? etc. 4. May be some more features Is there any FOSS that does the above? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Dramatic_Ad5442 路 2023-11-08 04:29 馃憢馃憢 Developer of Receipt Wrangler here. I'm not sure it quite fills all of your needs, but today it has the ability to: * Store a receipt with associated images, or pdfs * Manually fill in data, or use AI to fill it in * Supports items * Multi user * Email integration to send a bunch of receipts to get processed * Dashboards coming fairly soon which will help out with drawing basic insights. Today there exists some data filtering on receipts which can help draw insights in the meantime. Check out how to set it up at: [https://github.com/Receipt- Wrangler](https://github.com/Receipt-Wrangler) Feel free to drop any questions/comments/concerns via DM, any of the github repos or https://www.reddit.com/r/receiptwrangler/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mandarons 路 2023-11-08 04:48 Looks cool but that鈥檚 not what I am looking for. Thanks for sharing. 馃憤馃徏 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- apbt-dad 路 2023-11-08 05:30 If you end up writing one, please do share! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AdministrativeCost40 路 2023-11-08 06:05 This is a good idea ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eRIZpl 路 2023-11-08 09:27 Was wandering around the topic and I guess it's the closest. Still on my todolist but look promising. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LogicalHurricane 路 2023-12-24 14:37 I'm working on this (created an initial version that I'm using) but I don't see how I can easily open-source it. The problem is the cost of data extraction. There are a lot of services out there that charge for AI/ML-based line-item extraction but they're not cheap and there's no open-source alternative. Let me know if you're interested in my project and I can share a link...not sure how much I'll charge once I'm done but probably at least $10/month due to the costs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mandarons 路 2023-12-24 14:48 Yeah sure. Please share the link. I agree - FOSS may not be an option yet due to high cost of ML.
