How to cancel Google Domains Subscription? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ImpactDesignStudio · 2023-11-06 23:20 I'm in a rut. Google Domains dashboard is completely shut down during the transfer, and yet they are still billing me for hosting. I also had an email set up with it, so I'm getting billed for that as well. I have no way to cancel until Squarespace completely takes over, and then I have to go through their entire onboarding and then cancel through there, which could be... never. There is no promise or timeline whatsoever. Completely unprofessional on google's part. Honestly expected more from them (which is why I chose them to host in the first place). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zoredache · 2023-11-07 00:02 Can you not go into https://domains.google.com/ and then adjust your renewal settings? It seems to still be there for me. But maybe your domains are further along in the transition process then me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ADB-UK · 2023-11-07 00:04 Surprised you did not a reminder the domain was due for renewal. I get one well over 30 days before it's due from my registar - plenty of time to move if I want to and cancel before payment is due. I also only pay yearly - cheaper that way I find... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zoredache · 2023-11-07 00:08 > I also only pay yearly - cheaper that way I find... Though not always. I locked in a price of $12/yr for a `.info` for 10 years before everyone increased the price up to ~$20/year. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dereksalem · 2023-11-07 00:10 This. Mine are still there. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- acbadam42 · 2023-11-07 03:17 I'm not really sure what you're talking about I use Google domains and I have no problem going into the site and seeing everything just the way it always was. Nothing has changed for me except for a little message at the top saying that squarespace will be taking over. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- vheissu44 · 2023-11-07 04:11 Well if you expected Google the product murderer company to be professional you are quite foolishly (sorry think my bias is showing a bit) but honestly the easiest thing to do is probably just freeze your cc and get a new one issued ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jqnorman · 2023-11-07 06:14 how is that the easiest thing?!? wtf ---------------------------------------------------------------------- omfgitsasalmon · 2023-11-07 09:25 Few clicks on your bank app and it's settled. However, they (SquareSpace) may hold your domain hostage for a year before they release for anyone to snap up (like what GoDaddy does). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jqnorman · 2023-11-07 10:26 Contact customer support is easier than waiting a year... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- omfgitsasalmon · 2023-11-07 10:27 And you are perfectly correct. Which is why I added however to my statement above :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ImpactDesignStudio · 2023-11-07 12:24 Oh wow, it's there now! It wasn't there when I checked a few weeks ago. Coolbeans, thank you ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ImpactDesignStudio · 2023-11-07 12:25 Turns out my bill was just for the email. I did lock in with the website for a year. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ImpactDesignStudio · 2023-11-07 12:26 Just checked, everything's good now. For some odd reason a few weeks ago I definitely wasn't seeing a single thing in the dashboard.
