Portainer IaaC reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AbbreviationsNew3672 · 2023-11-06 22:35 I have been using Portainer for the last two years to manage my self hosted environment. I have a bunch of services for 3-D printer, photo, backups file, server, etc. Everything is done behind either Tailscale or cloud flare . I have tried to set up as much backups and monitoring as I can , but have never thought about Infrastructure as code. I do not want to go towards K8s or Rancher. What is the best way for me to maintain portainer configuration as code and hopefully adding some CI CD to deploy my services? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mpopgun · 2023-11-07 00:48 I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for, but maybe Cosmos? It handles backups of Docker containers and their settings... and a few other features. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- root_switch · 2023-11-07 02:24 Docker compose? Pretty simple. There is also a docker provider for terraform if you want to go that route, both of which can be executed in a CICD pipeline. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- adamshand · 2023-11-07 05:50 Isn't this what Portainer Gitops is for? https://www.portainer.io/gitops-automation CapRover is another alternative. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lilolalu · 2023-11-07 11:58 Host a Gitea, push your configs to git, use Gitea Actions + a registry for deployment. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Trustworthy_Fartzzz · 2023-11-10 02:00 I use Ansible for managing my self-hosted containers and the physical hosts. I only use Portainer for managing the containers and spot checking logs. I’m looking at docker-volume-backup next. There’s a few DB specific backup tools on the GitHub link page that look interesting as well. I plan to deploy Minio so I have private S3 for storage.
