Cloudflare Tunnel College network reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- katakoria · 2023-11-06 12:52 I am not a programmer and never studied any college degree in programming whatsoever. However, I learned how to build web applications using JavaScript frameworks like Sveltekit. I built a web application and was able to expose it to the public using Cloudflare Tunnel when the app was hosted on my home computer. However, I built this app for my college in which I work as an instructor. Now, I want to host the app on my work computer but unfortunately, I am unable to configure Cloudflare tunnel. I want to know if CF tunnel can work on my work computer. If yes, how I can configure it? By the way, I can only access the campus network through my college email and password. This is how I connect my computer to various printers on the campus! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MisterBazz · 2023-11-06 13:07 As a prior IT employee working at a college, please FIRST be sure what you want to do is permitted. Running Internet-accessible sites on your work computer is most likely NOT allowed. You should contact university IT services and discuss what it is you are wanting to do. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Lucky-Pie9875 · 2023-11-06 19:05 Hosting or trying to host a self built app on university or work hardware/network is a great way to get terminated. You’re not an IT professional like you said, it’s not a good idea to do this without approval because you can have vulnerabilities that expose university assets and put them at risk. Go through the proper channels or don’t do it at all. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- EriksonEnterprises · 2023-11-07 11:09 If you want a computer to host to the world, get a VDS (Virtual Dedicated Server). You pay a monthly cost for it though, but then you can use it to host whatever you want to wherever you want Sadly more advanced though as you'll have to do most things through terminal, WHM, and cPanel. But that's basically the same as your current setup in a lot of ways
