Nothing better than OneNote? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mabernu · 2023-11-05 19:02 would you give a try to a git repository plus markdown files, beauty simplified. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Lobbelt · 2023-11-05 21:29 He tried Obsidian already which I think comes very close to git + markdown. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LastTreestar · 2023-11-05 21:36 Trilium. https://github.com/zadam/trilium ---------------------------------------------------------------------- linuxmel · 2023-11-06 02:50 Standard Notes ---------------------------------------------------------------------- stackPeek · 2023-11-06 04:02 IMO using Syncthing for synchronizing notes across devices is even simple and beginner friendly ---------------------------------------------------------------------- the_naysayer · 2023-11-06 04:52 I use obsidian with sync and it is worth it. some people just use an editor like neovim with github to sync everything and provide a public way to view things. I highly recommend keeping to simple text formats. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- iCrumbz · 2023-11-06 15:05 Im currently using Notion which is amazing but im planning to switch on affine, once the selfhosted Version is stable and dockerized. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Assist21 · 2023-11-06 16:31 Thanks, i already heared ot trillium. Don't know why I haven't test it yet. I will give it a go. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Assist21 · 2023-11-06 16:33 Osbidian it great, no doubt. But i don't like switching to excildraw to write something with a pen and not be able to do it right inside the current file. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- the_naysayer · 2023-11-06 16:34 Yeah, the pen input really is your limiting factor. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Assist21 · 2023-11-06 16:36 Did standard note support wrtiting with a pen? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Assist21 · 2023-11-06 16:37 Affine is on my short-list, but as long as i can't selfhost the app, i can't switch. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Assist21 · 2023-11-06 16:39 I know, but as a teacher I need the ability to quickly 'draw' something to help students understand. Unfortunately I can't do without it ---------------------------------------------------------------------- homegrowntechie · 2023-11-06 17:35 There are no mobile apps currently - this is the biggest downside of trillium IMO. That being said, there is a very good plug-in called MobileView that makes the web app very usable. Other good scripts and plugins can be found here: https://github.com/Nriver/awesome-trilium ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Assist21 · 2023-11-06 18:13 Problem here, I don't have web access all the time at school. So I need something that works offline and only needs mobile access to synchronize ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Discommodian · 2023-11-06 18:13 I use Obsidian. It does have a paid option where you can sync it between devices. However, what I do is just set my folder location to an iCloud folder and it works on my computer and my phone. I am sure you can come up with other similar workarounds too ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Assist21 · 2023-11-06 18:20 The problem with Obsidian is not synchronization, I can solve that easily via my own server. The problem is that I always have to open an extra excildraw page for 'drawings' or annotations and I can't do that directly on the existing page. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- homegrowntechie · 2023-11-06 19:42 Ok the desktop app works offline but if you need offline mobile then you might want to look at logseq
