Cloudflare tunnel selfhosted or alternatives? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dotinho · 2023-11-04 17:53 Hi, because of my double cgnat I use cloudflare tunnel, but for privacy reasons and don’t be dependent of some internet services company, what are my options on selfhosted a service similar to Cloudflare tunnel? I think I need a VPS for that, but I’m no sure anyway. Thank you ---------------------------------------------------------------------- iamdadmin · 2023-11-04 18:37 TailScale has an open source headend alternative (I don’t recall the name offhand but I’m sure it won’t be hard to dig up) and you can get a free VM on the Oracle always-free that you can run it from. Or pay for a lil VPS somewhere to run it from. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jims-Garage · 2023-11-04 18:43 Tailscale, or the open source fork headscale can achieve this (have a video on my YouTube). There's also zerotier as well. You basically create a mesh network and specify exit nodes. This is great for cgnat and solves the Cloudflare Tunnels issue. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dotinho · 2023-11-04 19:32 I’m sure I’ll look into it. I already have a arm VM on oracle. And what I can use like dashboard for country map and for domain I can use Nginx Proxy Mannager? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- schminkexperten · 2023-11-04 19:52 Headscale: https://github.com/juanfont/headscale ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Haliphone · 2023-11-05 01:38 Don't suppose you know of a tutorial to do this? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MadAndriu · 2023-11-05 02:33 Check out Jim Garage's video tutorial on YT ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PhilipLGriffiths88 · 2023-11-06 13:52 Are you looking for public sharing, i.e. outbound connection to circumvent nat and access via public IP/DNS or private sharing, e.g. VPN type solution. I work on a free and open source project which can do both, [zrok.io](https://zrok.io) (FOSS or free SaaS) for public shares or OpenZiti for private (we have a free SaaS called CloudZiti too). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BfrogPrice2116 · 2023-11-06 18:39 I would be weary using Oracle Free Tier. My VM got hit with "will terminate due to inactivity" even though I was using it. They require you to utilize their console to remain active. As long as you can be aware of that, it's a great service.
