Humidity reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SleepyZ6969 · 2023-11-04 14:03 I just got a r720 for my self hosting, the only viable place for the server is in my bedroom so i was wondering how i should dehumidify the room or what temperature i should keep it at to prevent condensation ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Mintfresh22 · 2023-11-04 14:39 You live in a rain forest? Humidity shouldn't be an issue and the only heat issue you might have is the heat from the server running you out of the room. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- msanangelo · 2023-11-04 14:41 whatever is comfortable to you will be fine for a computer. my room fluctuates but I'd say around 40% is good. computers like cold temperatures but my room sits between 68-85F. I've never worried about moisture with an active AC unit doing it's normal cycles all year round. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-11-04 14:42 What does your humidity have to do with selfhosting software services? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SleepyZ6969 · 2023-11-04 14:43 because it’s a server hosting software services that im worried about the humidity effecting ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SleepyZ6969 · 2023-11-04 14:48 well i live in michigan so i get normal humidities of like 60%-90% and it’s cold right now so no ac ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-11-04 14:54 Amazing logic. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- speculatrix · 2023-11-04 14:57 If the server's left on 24x7, it should be warm enough to never suffer condensation. If you only run it occasionally, just make sure it's not been too cold and has condensation on it before turning on. Dust is likely to be a bigger problem, keep it off the floor, vacuum the room regularly. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- msanangelo · 2023-11-04 14:57 do you have computers and other electronics running right now, right? this server isn't gonna have any different requirements. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SleepyZ6969 · 2023-11-04 15:09 i’m 17 and just got an expensive server to host my stuff instead of just a old pc so forgive me for getting a bit worried ill mess it up it’s typically 60-90% humid in michigan. i asked this community because i figured somebody else lives in a humid area and would have a solution given that this community is about hosting services at home. its so amazing of you to start criticizing me instead off the bat and not even at least making it constructive. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SleepyZ6969 · 2023-11-04 15:12 okay thank you so much, im new to this whole thing so i just wanted to make sure im not gonna mess it up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SleepyZ6969 · 2023-11-04 15:12 heard, thank you i’ll make sure i keep the room tidy ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-11-04 15:20 Still amazing logic. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SleepyZ6969 · 2023-11-04 16:08 I'd love to know how. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Plane_Resolution7133 · 2023-11-04 16:14 I envy people that are able to sleep in the same room as that racket. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- alsdhjf1 · 2023-11-04 17:47 This is a completely unhelpful reply to a young kid just trying to learn. Please try to do better. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-11-04 18:01 Nope?
