VPN Gateway Hardware reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LtManBearPig · 2023-11-04 07:59 I am currently running a plex server and a nas for backups in my local network and would like my mom to be able to connect to them without having to expose my services to the internet. I already have a vpn running that is accessable, but that would mean that my mom would need to connect her smart tv to the vpn in order to view plex. My idea was to place a device in her home that acts like a Gateway, add some routings entries in her router so all traffic for my network is targetet through that device meaning running through the vpn. I mean sure, a raspberry is the first hardware that came to my mind but maybe someone knows any other (potentielly cheaper) solution for that idea. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 4w3som3 · 2023-11-04 08:49 I don't think you will find anything better than a raspberry for that matter. Good news is is that a second hand old model will do the work too. A raspberry pi 3 for sure, older probably too. Also there are many raspberry alternatives in AliExpress. The channel Explaining Computers has some video about many alternatives. Perfect for something like this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kmisterk · 2023-11-06 18:56 ## Post Removed Hey, LtManBearPig!
