Instead ofa Raspberry Pi 5? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- apb0703 · 2023-11-04 00:23 I currently have a couple Raspberry Pi 4's that I run a Docker on, mainly the are suite, bookstack and some other common containers. I'm looking to upgrade to a mini PC looking for suggestions on what to buy. Budget is $209 and under. I have read through some post and see the hp elite desk 800 g3 and thinkcentre m900 suggested a few times. Is there anything else suggested? What are other options that is liked? I ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-11-04 00:41 Try hardware sub like maybe /r/Homelab /r/HomeServer etc, this here is about selfhosting software services. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SillyLilBear · 2023-11-04 00:48 Beeline 12eq. I'm very impressed with it's hardware transcoding capabilities with Plex (I have Plex Pass) and it's been more than enough for my Docker containers. I've got the arr suite/stack running on it as well. The other main reason I got this one is the low power consumption. It's 11w when idle running 30 containers. During boot it will jump up to 15w and it's hit 18w once but generally sits at idle or just above it. It's also a very quiet build overall. As I did buy it, and definitely don't want to sound like a shill, there are certainly negatives: for me it's not a daily driver, the desktop environment for Ubuntu desktop can be sluggish at times. Also, expandability with regards to SATA hard drives is not possible aside from one 2.5" slot. If you hoard data to any degree you'll have to figure out how you want your HDDs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- magneticf · 2023-11-04 02:58 Yep, this is what you need ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tcp-xenos · 2023-11-04 04:01 yes just make sure you get the one made by Bee**link** though ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Developer_Akash · 2023-11-04 04:27 Thanks for linking the r/homeserver, wasn't aware of it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sneakpeekbot · 2023-11-04 04:27 Here's a sneak peek of /r/HomeServer using the [top posts](https://np.reddit.com/r/HomeServer/top/?sort=top&t=year) of the year! \#1: [I know this isn't generally a place for memes but it really really fits :)](https://i.redd.it/kpw8vuqdglma1.png) | [43 comments](h ttps://np.reddit.com/r/HomeServer/comments/11marvo/i_know_this_isnt_ge nerally_a_place_for_memes_but/) \#2: [My new Plex Server......see comments](https://www.reddit.com/gallery/11o9ol3) | [126 comments](htt ps://np.reddit.com/r/HomeServer/comments/11o9ol3/my_new_plex_serversee _comments/) \#3: [No space for another drive no worries](https://i.redd.it/uuzl0kcedena1.jpg) | [56 comments](https:// np.reddit.com/r/HomeServer/comments/11pmnph/no_space_for_another_drive _no_worries/) ---- ^^I'm ^^a ^^bot, ^^beep ^^boop ^^| ^^Downvote ^^to ^^remove ^^| ^^[Contact](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=sneakpeekbot) ^^| ^^[Info](https://np.reddit.com/r/sneakpeekbot/) ^^| ^^[Opt-out](ht tps://np.reddit.com/r/sneakpeekbot/comments/o8wk1r/blacklist_ix/) ^^| ^^[GitHub](https://github.com/ghnr/sneakpeekbot) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SillyLilBear · 2023-11-04 19:56 Shame it's always out of stock, been trying to get two more of them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- crankyjaaay · 2023-11-05 00:45 Whatever you pick, get one with good IOMMU group if you ever want to move to a hypervisor (proxmox) rather than running containers It’s important for doing PCIE passthroughs to VMs, useful if you want to pass the iGPU or M.2 slot to a VM for plex, emby, frigate etc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Nikto_90 · 2023-11-05 13:11 Zimaboard.
