Apache server (and all other servers) not public with IP or Domain reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jaythegamer0302 · 2023-11-03 23:52 Ok, so for this example I have an apache server. Nothing set up, just the server When I do localhost in my browser, it takes me to dashboard like normal, but doing my public ip or both of my domains does not work. Also, by extension, every other hosted server of mine is like this too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-11-04 00:22 Okay. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jaythegamer0302 · 2023-11-04 00:25 ... Okay? this is labeled as help? Why does that warrant an "Okay." and a downvote. Even if the problem is very stupid, at least tell me why. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jaythegamer0302 · 2023-11-04 00:26 Also, I have DMZ set to my pc, so Port forwarding isnt an issue. I think ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-11-04 00:27 Youre providing zero details. And this here is not a techsupport-for- every-possible-software subreddit. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jaythegamer0302 · 2023-11-04 00:33 It's not "every software availble" This isn't about software, I just used Apache as an example. I fgured that fact that "I have DMZ on, and that nothing is reaching public layer", was enough info. Self hosting seems like the best option. The Issue is simple. Traffic not go though, me wonder why traffic not go though, Me ask people, me think this may be common issue and some dude will be like "oh yeah you should probably stop doing that". I do realise I should do a bit more info My domains... 1 is registered from a domain site, and goes through dnyu. second domain is noip. Both of them point to my public ip. Neither take me to my dashboard. Just doing my public ip with no domain also doesn't take me to apache dashboard. And last I checked, my friend could not join my minecraft server, despite all ports being open. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jaythegamer0302 · 2023-11-04 00:34 I figure i'm being dumb and forgot to do something. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-11-04 00:39 > It's not "every software availble" This isn't about software, I just used Apache as an example. Doesnt change the fact that this isnt a techsupport sub. And everything you just added is just summed up as "it doesnt work". When you ask for techsupport you should include specific details, like the config of your Apache, error messages, log output, and all such things. "it doesnt work" is absolutely pointless. And once again, this here is not techsupport. Find a sub that is. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SH4YD33 · 2023-11-04 03:43 Disable the dmz and just forward the apache ports, 80 and 443. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- taxigrandpa · 2023-11-04 13:50 when you say public ip, what are the first 2 octects? 192.168 is a private IP on your network. if you fail connecting to 192.168 then your pc's firewall is blocking ---------------------------------------------------------------------- neumaticc · 2023-11-04 17:58 but you didn't ask a question if the original post. It begs the question to the top of this comment thread: > *Are you asking or telling me?* ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ddpbsd · 2023-11-04 22:15 Did you configure apache to listen to a non-localhost ip? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tech2but1 · 2023-11-04 22:48 > 192.168 is a private IP on your network. No it isn't.
