Sandstorm, Tempest, and the Future reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ocdtrekkie · 2023-11-03 18:36 Hey all, I'm a long-time contributor to the Sandstorm project, and we are sort of remixing things and moving from our deceased startup model to a community-based open source project. We've also recently announced a next generation Golang-based platform called Tempest which is Sandstorm-compatible, but not yet finished. For those who haven't heard of it, Sandstorm is a self-hosting platform which can make it safe to allow anyone on your server the ability to install arbitrary applications, and do it securely enough that app vulnerabilities are largely a thing of the past. I think it's the only way to make self-hosting expand beyond a niche hobby for my fellow IT folks who like to run infrastructure at home. It launched as a startup all the way back in 2014 and has been stable and secure since, though there's a lot of work to do to make Sandstorm feel like it's 2023. https://sandstorm.org/news/2023-10-23-sandstorm-tempest-and-the-future https://sandstorm.org/news/2023-11-03-from-io-to-org ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mativs · 2023-11-18 17:58 Hi, I wasn't aware of Sandstorm and it looks great!! It's an amazing project. I will read through the docs to see where I can help.
