Shared photo album?

I would love to replace iCloud Shared Albums with something self
hosted and supported on many platforms. I know there are thousands of
"Google Photos Replacements" posts but I am not looking for all-in-one
photo solution. Just something where my family can easily post and
view to a shared album.

I saw immich has some shared album capability and I will be testing it
out but it also seems like overkill. Maybe not though.

Does anyone know of something?

Added near-requirement is that it also has to be stupid-simple to use.
Think my 90 year old family viewing photos on an iPad level easy.

Try Photoprism if you live in the same house, otherwise needs VPN
setup.

I can host it externally. I do see they have a sharing thing. I wil
lhave to test that out.

Try Nextcloud. It has some basic image gallery features, and you can
share folders.

If you use nextcloud, do yourself a solid by using Memories instead of
photos.

Great tip. A little confusing to setup at first, but a nice addition
if you auto upload your images and need a replacement for Google
Photos.
